The Library’s inaugural Student Advisory Board is gearing up to begin its work for Spring 2024! The cohort of five students (one first-year, one sophomore, one junior, and two seniors) met with Library staff members Kate Sonsteby and Sonja Timmerman on December 1, 2023, for a brief introductory session and to review the board’s charge:

Members of Gustavus Library’s Student Advisory Board will devote 4 to 6 hours per month to the advisory board, including attending required monthly meetings, while working to enhance the overall student experience by doing the following: faithfully representing the student body and sharing feedback on library space, collections, and services; executing at least one major outreach event or program per semester; and working with library staff to engage students through social media avenues and other library programming.

They started brainstorming immediately, and we can’t wait to see how they choose to focus their energies. Be sure to follow the Library on social media for further updates, and join us in welcoming these enthusiastic student advocates:
Elliot Steeves, Jordan Oelkers, Melora Lee, Mia Eisenbacher, and Sara Teigland.

Thanks to the Friends of the Library – Gustavus Library Associates for providing funding for this group!
